“Sharing Points of View” is Chapter 26 of the InterActive Lesson Book for Herb Hein’s Growing G.R.E.E.N. InterActions Social Literacy Program. This is an extremely useful chapter for guiding participants to understand that people have different points of view and that we can learn to have Cooperative Conversations to share our ideas and make a plan to meet the needs of both people in the conversation. For distance learning it is possible to screen share the numerous exercises in this chapter and annotate them with the collaborative responses generated with the guide and the participant(s). There are also G.R.E.E.N. Scenes that can be acted out. First, we learn that the more we can understand about the other person’s point of view, the more respectful and easygoing we can be with that person. Participants are then asked to analyze some brief scenarios in which they are guided to think about the two different points of view. The necessary ingredients for a Cooperative Conversation are presented as a Wise Action Tool visual strategy called the “Cooperative Conversation Ingredients Checklist”. Conversations can be analyzed with this checklist to see if they have all of the necessary elements. Participants are given the opportunity to write their own cooperative conversations so both sides of presented teams can get their needs met. The topic of accepting constructive feedback is also presented with scenarios to analyze regarding whether characters are accepting advice. A Wise Action Tool visual strategy called “I Accept Constructive Feedback in These Areas” is also presented for participants to engage in self-reflection regarding whether they accept feedback in a variety of aspects of their lives.

This is only one of the chapters of the InterActive Lesson Book which can be downloaded in its entirety for only $45 to increase grateful, respectful, empathetic, cooperative and navigating behavior and interactions in the home, classroom or community. Chapter 26 includes the following sections:
