After decades at our old office, we now are able to celebrate having enjoyed one year in our magnificent new one! Much gratitude to all our clients! We also thank all of our colleagues and friends who made our first Open House a great event. A lively crowd braved the rainy weather to join us for an evening of tasty food and champagne, great music by the folk duo Jeff & Herb and warm friendship. We were also very excited to announce our freshest new idea, the Growing G.R.E.E.N. Interactions Social Literacy Program. This groundbreaking program with its Interactive Toolbox has already brought profound improvements to clients in our private practice as well as the students in private school classrooms where it was initially developed. It has proven to be effective in getting the participants to act G.R.E.E.N.: Grateful, Respectful, Empathetic, Easygoing and Navigating. We are now working hard to make it available to therapists, educators, counselors, home schooling parents and others. Learn more at our Guiding G.R.E.E.N. Interactions page and ... listen to some of the original music we've created as part of the program. Again, thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us!
"New Beginnings", a new Herb Hein Music video, is ready to inspire:
I am so thrilled and appreciative to be releasing this beautiful music video made by my son, Adam Hein. Although this was filmed in spring and the video is filled with Adam's awesome time-lapse photography of nature unfolding, the message in the song is appropriate year-round, whether we are in November or March. New Beginnings from my album released last year, is a song I wrote back in 1992 with my musical partner at the time, Greg Hengesbaugh. It was written to inspire our children to never stop taking steps toward living their dreams. 25 years later, I continue to be living my own dreams helping others as a speech-language pathologist and inspiring people as a singer-songwriter. Joanne, my professional and life partner, is living her dreams giving her best to her clients and also making beautiful jewelry. Our dreams as parents are fulfilled, with our children living theirs. Our daughter, Natalie, is an architect and singer-songwriter in LA, and our son, Adam is making commercials and music videos in Hollywood as a First Assistant Director, while also growing all kinds of plants with his wife, Courtney. The stop action photography of unfolding nature is also a dream skill of his that all viewers get to appreciate. It is certainly a fulfilled dream to have Adam direct, shoot and edit this modern music video of a song I wrote and sang to inspire him and his sister 25 years ago when they were children. In our private practice we work with many young people who stutter. We have a young man who has truly struggled to get each word out. I started working with him when he was about 9 years old, and my husband took over with him for the past year and a half. This story is a tribute to him, certainly one of our hardworking teen clients. 3rd Annual Spring Conference of the San Diego Branch of the International Dyslexia Association5/2/2012 On April 28, 2012 we presented at the 3rd Annual Spring Conference of the San Diego Branch of the International Dyslexia Association - Dyslexia: Understanding and Interventions! at the Joan B.
